What Causes Pain In Lower Back And Pelvic Area Inspite Of Taking Ibuprofen?

I am a 57 yr old female. Post menopausal. I am having pain in my lower back - right side. Also having pain and cramping in my pelvic area. The cramping is all along the front with pain on the right side. Ibuprofen does help but sometimes it takes hours to get it to calm down. I have tried ibuprofen, muscle relaxers, pain killers, heat and ice. Sometimes it is so painful, I want to scream. Other times I can do what I need to do. Have almost gone to the emergency room a couple of times.

Hello,

Post menopausal women are at higher risk of developing osteoporosis due to decreased estrogen in their body. This pain could be due to the osteoporosis. I suggest you to consult your gynecologist for your DEXA scan to see if you have osteoporosis or not and commence proper treatment which includes hormones replacement therapy, calcium and vitamin D. You might need bisphosphonates as well for your ailment.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
