What Causes Pain In Lower Back,hip And Thigh?

I have had pain in the back of my left thigh for a few days now. My butt and lower back also hurt, especially when sitting for a long time. I think it is probably a pinched nerve but I am nervous about a blood clot. The thigh is not swollen, red or hot - and the pain comes and goes.
