What Causes Pain In Lower Back, vomiting And Dizziness After A Fall?

My boyfriend fell off of a ladder Thursday. Since then he has been vomiting, feeling dizzy, and pale. He also has pain in his lower back that is not subsiding with ice or a heating pad. Could he have slipped a disc or severely sprained his bones or muscles? Does he need to go to the hospital?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi. This is an injury where the internal injuries may not be very obvious.
I would think of a more serious matter if there is a history of fall from a height like ladder and patient has these symptoms as you have noted.

It looks to me that he may be suffering from a retroperitoneal hematoma may be associated with head injury.
This is because of the symptoms you wrote- He needs to go to hospital. A Doctor has to clinically check for signs of an internal injury to the abdomen and head. Accordingly a CT scan of the abdomen and head will be done to confirm the diagnosis.

Till then stop giving him anything orally.

Wishing him an early recovery.
