Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In Middle Of Chest And Tightness Around Collarbone?
For the last two weeks, I ve had a weird pain in my chest. It feels a lot like when I have an anxiety attack, but I m not having any anxiety. It is waking me up sometimes. Sometimes it feels kind of tight (?) around my collarbones, but that isn t exactly the word. The pain (not really the right word either) is in the middle of my chest, near my sternum. What is causing this? I feel able to breathe unobstructed.
Pain in the chest might be due to various causes ranging from mild musculo skeletal pain to life threatening heart attack. Hence it is important that you must take one ECG which may give clue that you may be suffering from coronary artery disease. You may have to also undergo some more test such as blood sugar, lipid profile and tread mill test if necessary. It is better to do these tests. Prevention is better than cure.
