What Causes Pain In Middle Of Chest While Taking Deep Breath?
I have a pain/pressure in the middle of my chest when I m breathing hard. For example, strenuous exercise, hiking at altitude, and sometimes even short jogs. I m not over weight, I don t smoke, I eat well and am somewhat active. I have wine or beer once/day, usually. I m female, 49 and a formerl marathoner and triathlete. I haven t exercised regularly though since I had my son 6.5 years ago.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Prakruthi's Response
Hi if the pain comes only on doing strenuous activity it's OK. Pretty normal. But if you notice severe pain on climbing stairs or performing any activity on level ground or difficulty performing duties that you were able to do comfortably before it could indicate a heart condition and may have to be evaluated. At 49 I would suggest you can get a yearly health check up at least considering that you don't already have any health conditions. I hope this helps. Take care :)
