What Causes Pain In My Hipbone And Thigh?

about over a week ago i started getting pain in my left hip bone and down the side of my thigh, even touching and rubbing it would hurt, couldnt lay on it either, and geting up it becomes painful to walk. just the other day i was softly rubbing my left side and felt a big mushy lump almost the size of my palm. should i be concern? i am a 42 female. thank you
