What Causes Pain In Neck While Swallowing?

My 15 year old son is complaining that his neck (outside of his throat hurts) on the right side. It came on rather suddenly and it hurts to swallow-- when he drank water (to take a Tylenol) the pain radiated through his chest, and when I touch the area on the right side of his neck it makes a crunching sound. He said pain level is 5.5 out of 10. Should I take him to a prompt care?

I can understand your genuine concerns. Yes you need to take him to an Ottorhinolaryngologist for proper evaluation and treatment.
This may be due to acute pharyngitis, a lymph nodal swelling, thyroid problems though less likely, Acutr Tonsillo-Pharyngitis, spasm of the esophagus.
