What Causes Pain In Right Hip Along With Passing Of Dark Stools?

I am having pain in my right hip area along with gut. I do not have my appendix anymore- trying to figure out if its just my hip or something more with my intestines- the color of my bowels has changed to a darker black color. I do not eat dairy or gluten anymore because I can not tollerate it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Pain in hip doesn't appear to have any correlation with stool color or intestines. Dark color stool may happen in cases where in there is a some small bleeding inside the gastrointestinal tract. I would advise you to get your stool tested for 'occult blood'.

If the test comes positive then you may have to undergo further tests to find out the exact cause and location of that bleed. Also, please get you hemoglobin level also tested in case you test positive. For hip pain, I would advise an X-ray of pelvis and a review with an orthopedic surgeon.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
