What Causes Pain In Right Middle Abdomen After Eating?

Hello, Sometimes after eating I will have a pain to the right (my right) of my belly button. I suppose it s more to the lower abdomen. As well, I have loose stools sporadicly. However, I have a history of stomach problems. I have food intolerances to gluten, egg, and dairy, which I do keep at minimal- no egg/dairy. Also, this summer I had chronic diarrhea from liver s fat malabsorption, but now I take ox bile. I had candida overgrowth, but that s under control. If I have diarrhea, I usually have one good bowel movement in the morning, but after I have the feeling I have to go again. About 30 minutes later I will go with loose stools. Not fully watery, but not fully formed. I make my own kefir and eat plenty of it of to get probiotics. I ve recently figured out my fat malabsorption/liver problem fairly recently, so I m still figuring my diet, etc. out. I may have 2 good days, get it s loose stools. Also, my mother had food intolerances and IBS-C. (Additionally, I almost never have constipation issues). So... 1. Why do I sometimes have pain in my lower right abdomen? 2. Do I match up with IBS (I hope not, haha), or is it most likely a malabsorption problem or food intolerances that gives me these sporadic loose stools on a 2nd bowel movement in the morning? Thank you very much for your time.

Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

This occasional pain over right middle abdomen is likely to be due to acute gastritis, duodenitis or could be related to food intolerance.

Very unlikely to be related to IBS or malabsorption problem from your history.

Here,I would like to know about the medications that you are taking at present.

The symptoms can be improved with some dietary precautions apart from medications.

Here,I would suggest you to continue this treatment along with antibiotics (ofloxacin with ornidazole,if you had not taken earlier for gastroenteritis) and antacids (pantoprazole or rabeprazole with syrup digene 2 TSF twice daily) to get rid off this intermittent pain.

You can discuss with your treating doctor who may give prescription of this drugs.

Now,apart from medications you should also take dietary precautions.

1) eat plain foods like boiled rice and green leafy vegetables without adding spices or oil.

It will help to neutralize digestive acids and also they are easily digestible means there will be no need of extra stomach acid.

2) avoid oily, spicy and fast foods

3) avoid eating full stomach at a time rather have small meals frequently.

4) drink coconut water will help to reduce burning or pain.

5) eat lots of fruits like banana and watermelon.

6) avoid excess tea and coffee.

7) eat or drink buttermilk and yogurt twice daily.

Hope this detailed information will help you.

Regards,
