What Causes Pain In Right Upper Thigh And Hip While Walking?
My right upper thigh and hip hurt when I walk, climb stairs, walk up an incline, or get up from a sitting position. Sometimes the area hurts at night and keeps me awake. This has been going on for about 4 months, getting worse all the time. I am a 69 year-old female, 160 pounds.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. The pain in upper thigh & hip you have is likely to be due to Arthritis of right thigh/ spinal age wise degenerative changes causing lumber spondylosis- followed by nerve pressure supplying the hip & thigh region. Simple Nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs ( Ibuprofen + paracetamol Combination) available counter would help in controlling the pain to start with But in long run investigations for osteoporosis ( serum calcium/vitamin D)along with X rays of lumber spine / hip should be done. Consultation of orthopedic surgeon wold seek you specific treatment for the cause found by investigations .( medicines/ calcium & vitamin D supplements/ physiotherapy/ surgery) Thanks. Thanks.
