What Causes Pain In Shoulder After Getting Tubes Tied?

I am a 33 yr old female that had my tubes "tied" on Tuesday, August 17. My problem is not the incesion itself but the refered pain in the shoulder/neck. The pain is constant, but is worse after sleeping or laying down for a period of time - it feels as though someone is stabbing me or ripping my muscles apart. Other times it medium to mild. How long does this last? What can be done? Gas-x or other antigas meds do not work.
