What Causes Pain In Shoulder And Neck While Sleeping?

I woke up at 8 AM without any problem. Then I slept again and woke up at 8:30 AM. After about 15-20 minutes, I started getting pain in my back left shoulder and lower part of my neck. I used muscle rub about 4 hours back. But no relief yet. What should I do, sir? I just want to make sure this is nothing like where I will need to go to ER and have angio-plasty done. My one of friend had similar symton and had to do angio-plasty.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thank you for sharing your query on Healthcaremagic, I have carefully worked through your case and probably you got an sternocleidomastoid muscle contraction by inappropriate neck posture, I advice you taking some anti-inflammatory pills 2 times a day and pain killers 3 times a day per 3-5 days or until the symptoms improve, a warm-water bottle 3 times per 20 minutes is a great muscle relaxant after you can apply Ice/hot or other anti-inflammatory cream, just watch your posture and your pillow, take care.I hope that my advice has been helpful
