What Causes Pain In Shoulder Blades That Radiates To Back Of Head/jaw/ear?

my sister has pain in her shoulder blades and then it radiates up to the back of the head and then to her right temple, face, jaw and ear (all right side). the pain is like someone has beat her with a baseball bat. it subsides when she is standing up but when she lies down to go to bed, it is unbearable for her. she cannot lay on either side or her back. she had a diving accident more than 30 years ago that injured her right side but she never thought anything of it.
