What Causes Pain In Shoulder, Neck And Ear While On Synthroid?

Can synthroid cause muscle pain? I had severe shoulder neck and ear pain beginning about two weeks after switching from desicatted thyroid to synthroid. Physio and laser therapy did not help. I could not turn my head. It felt rigid. Two weeks after switching back to desicatted thyroid I could turn my head and actually jog a bit without jarring my neck and getting a headache.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Synthroid is not responsible for muscle pain over shoulder, neck or ear. However, individual case can present with any of the odd presentation of side effects as muscle spasm or else. If the symptoms resolve totally after discontinuation of the medicine, it turns out to be responsible for the agony most likely.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
