What Causes Pain In The Arch Of Foot?

Hi, About a week ago I started to feel a sharp pain in the arch of my foot. Just when I walk. It feels like a muscle is damaged. I think it was caused by walking a lot in shoes that don't have enough support. I currently walk on the side of my foot to avoid pain.
