Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Arm After Receiving Gadolinium Injection?
I had an gadolinium injuction in my left arem for MRI scan because of a problem I have in my right shoulder. I had a sever pain during the injection and the pain in my arm last for 10 days that I could not raise my arm up or move it. Now after a month, the pain in my left arm and shoulder is coming back. My family doctor gave me diclo-miso 50/200, but the pain is persistnet even having taking this medicine twice a day. The pain is becoming very sever and terrable/unbearable in sometimes particularly at night. According to my family doctor the MRI showed abnormalities in my neck and referred me to a neurologist and I am still waiting for the appointment. But I had never had pain in my left arm and shoulder before the gadolinium injuction and it was always the problem in my right arm. Please your advise
The symptoms seem to be related to a pinched nerve in the shoulder, I suggest using painkillers such as Acetominophen to relieve the pain. I also suggest to maintain the area immobilized to prevent further damage of the nerve. If the pain continue, I suggest to consult a neurologist for further evaluation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
