What Causes Pain In The Arm While Having Shoulder Osteoarthritis?
Hi. I have been having pain in my right arm. I believe it is in the diable (?sp)muscle or tendon in the upper outside of my arm. It can hurt when I move it up or back. Could I have a tear or is it because of overuse. I am a 70 year old woman. Do I need to see a doctor to get it checked out further? I have had a x-ray and my doctor said it was arthritis in my shoulder. Would that cause pain lower down in my arm? Thanks in advance
Pain in the upper arm is very common with shoulder problems and with shoulder arthritis. I would recommend you to take medications for pain like paracetamol and ibuprofen (after food to not hurt the stomach) and also see a physiotherapist that might do a check on you and give exercises to help with the shoulder arthritis and the upper arm pain.
If you notice no improvement with these or you notice any worsening you will need to see your doctor.
I hope this answers your query. Please let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
