What Causes Pain In The Breasts?

I had my last period on the 13th of July, and ended the 17th of July, My breast started hurting on the 29th of June and now it is 9 days past the end of my period and my breast still hurt. I was supposed to start this period July 6th, instead I started the 13th and it only lasted 4-5 days and was very light, not normal at all for me since I am usually always on time (28 day cycle) this one was 34 day cycle(the latest my period has ever been). My breast usually always hurt a week before my period and through out my period, and my breast always stop hurting a day before my cycle ends, this is the first time ever that I have had sore breast after my period has ended. I was just wondering what might be the cause of this consistent breast pain.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
Most causes of pain in breast are benign and not serious. There are a number of harmless causes for breast pain and tenderness that may primarily be related to changes in hormone levels. These can include:Menstruation and premenstrual syndrome (PMS), Mastitis, Menopause and Fibrocystic Breast Tissue which is most common. Fibrocystic breasts are not necessarily linked to cancer, and the lumps are fluid filled cysts rather than a mass of cells. However, it is advisable to do breast ultrasound and mammography just to be sure and start regular follow up of possible cysts. In case of redness, fever and progressive pain this may indicate abscess and then it should be surgically drained or evacuated by needle under control of ultrasound.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
