What Causes Pain In The Buttocks While Sitting?

I am a healthy 43 yr. old female with four children. My only medical issue is hypothyroidism. Since about 6 months after the birth of my fourth child,my buttocks hurt when I sit down; not exercise related, always uncomfortable, particularly when having to sit for long periods. Has been bothering me for at least two years.
