What Causes Pain In The Buttocks?

I have had a pain in the butt for 6 months, very hard to sit. Pain is now going down the lateralis /IT band. Could the ischeal be causing nerve pain down the leg. Also, hip flexors seem to be affected. I am an elite triathlete and biking/running is what I do, and it is very painful right now.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to blunt trauma.

For pain you can take tablet acetaminophen.

Do regular physical therapy.

In case of not getting relief you may require MRI back with hip joint after orthopedician consultation.

Take balanced diet.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
