What Causes Pain In The Chest After Smoking?

Hello. I have been having chest pains for a while now. I am a light smoker and the pain seems to be more frequent after I smoke. However, I have gone days without smoking and the pain still lingers. It isn t constant, usually. Today, it has been hurting all day. The pain is a sharp and stabbing pain and is localized around the area of my heart. What could be wrong? Heart damage from smoking? Pleurisy? Costochondritis? Pericarditis?
