trying to quit smoking cigarettes. durring one, which i felt i had to due to the power of the addiction, about 2 puffs into it i had a stabbing pain in my right lower chest area near my diaphragm. i have anxiety and tend to have weird pains and can sometimes be a hypochondriac. i am 25 years old and have smoked for a long time. since about 16 years old. i have cut back recently and am trying very hard to stop. the pain subsided after a short time, how worried should i be? i am going to quit smoking immediately but i am afraid that i may have something wrong with my lungs. (obviously i have tar buildup and damage done from years of smoking) i see that these are not free consultations and that is a shame since i do not have the money to visit a local physician and have no insurance.
First of all that is really a healthy decision taken by you for quitting tobacco. Pain in chest you are having is a Tobacco Withdrawal Symptom. It will vanish slowly after some time. You can try nicotine chewing gums as replacement of smoking and gradually when you feel better you can stop taking chewing gums.Make mind firm and gradually reduce smoking and then totally quit it.
Best of luck !
