What Causes Pain In The Chest And Joints While Treating Dry Cough?
Hello, I am hoping to get some advice on how to alleviate some of my symptoms. I have a dry cough, (my head hurts a little when I cough), my chest feels like someone is sitting on it therefore I find it hard to breathe, my head feels as if I m under water and I feel as if everything is in slow motion. My whole body and joints ache all over especially my stiff neck. My appetite feels out if whack but I ve been drinking plenty of water.
You should get a chest X-ray to rule out lower respiratory tract infection or pneumonia. The symptoms of chest tightness, server cough with feverish feeling and body aches points out to systemic infection and complete blood count, inflammatory markers etc should be done and it may need a course of antibiotics to treat but meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be helpful for symptomatic relief. For cough, antitussives as well as anti histamines like cetirizine or loratidine may be needed. Steam inhalations would also be needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
