What Causes Pain In The Chest Area?

I have pain around my heart area. I feel my heart beat normal and then it feels like it goes really week. And when it goes weak is is when the pain hurts the most. Kind of like an achy pain. What could this be. It's been going on for awhile. Anxiety related?

Dear patient,

Certainly the symptoms are worth investigating. Although they can be related to anxiety, this should be a diagnosis of exclusion after more serious causes have been ruled out, particulalrly organic heart disease. Your cardiovascular risk depends on your risk factors, and based on that, your physical exam and the rest of your history, your provider can decide on further need for cardiac testing such as a resting ECG or a stress test.

Hope that helps, wish you the best,
