Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Chest Cavity And Heart Palpitations?
i have been getting a pain in my chest cavity which goes to my mid shoulder blade for the past three weeks off and on; went to the hospital and they did an ecg on my heart and everything was fine and so was my blood pressure. sometimes i get palpatations out of the blue and it last for about five to ten minutes.
If this arrhythmia comes and goes then a 24h Holter study may detect it. I can't make any guesses about the type of arrhythmia though.
There are harmless and dangerous types of arrhythmias. Some of the harmless ones may be related to anxiety, thyroid disease, dehydration, electrolyte disorders etc.
If a true arrhythmia is detected then a more detailed assessment will have to be arranged.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
