Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Chest, Nausea And Bloating?
When I wake up I have a English muffin and coffee about a half hour later I get pains in my chest area and breast area left side . feel bloated and nausea. feel like burping but don t. I will take some antacid tablets and sit down for about 1/2 hour and it seems to pass. I have a small hiatus hernia. It seems to alwalys happen after a meal depending on what I eat.
This sounds most consistent with gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD), especially if you don't have any other symptoms of angina pain, such as chest pain with exertion. For GERD, the treatment would involve avoiding foods that exacerbate acid production (such as food and drinks with caffeine (coffee), spicy foods, chocolate, tomato-based products, and citrus fruits), and if that isn't enough, medications such as antacids, H2 blockers such as ranitidine, and proton-pump inhibitors such as omeprazole can be used.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
