What Causes Pain In The Chest On The Left Side?

Hello, I ve had pain in my left chest above my breast and into my shoulder and neck. I went to Dr. and had EKG and it was normal. I had blood work done and there were no cardiac enzymes. I was given Zantac and told to report for a stress test in two days. The Zantac seemed to be helping for the first day, so I canceled the stress test. Last night, it kept me awake...and this morning was mild. Now it is hurting pretty bad again. I am still taking the zantac morning and night. If it was my esophagus, should the zantac be helping by now?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
The esophagitis without infection would respond to Zanrac... bur ir is unlikely to cause pain radiating to shoulder &neck.
I feel it's more important to be attentive to your symptoms. So you should go for the stress test.. for excluding or finding possible heart problem.... consult cardiologist & start treatment (if needful) in time..& also consult gastroenterologist for more specific diagnosis & treatment .

Thanks
