What Causes Pain In The Chest, Shoulder Blades And Underarms?

I have had pains in chest ,shoulderblades and underarms for over 5 months , had xray and doc says i have cervicalgia in my neck , why are the pains in my chest and other ares and how long do i have to suffer ,been take pain killer for 5 months now which is worrying as they dont help much?
