What Causes Pain In The Chest When Bending?

Hi, sometimes when I sneeze or bend over awkwardly (tying shoe laces in a hurry mostly) I get a strange spasm like pain in my chest or more so on my upper left abdominal muscle area. The area goes tight and bulges in like a spasm and is quite painful. It doesn t happen all the time. Any ideas?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Muscle spasms can be painful.

They can occur from different causes such as: (1) electrolyte abnormalities- calcium, potassium, magnesium
(2)nerve compression or injury
(3)muscle injury
(4)side effect of medication
(5)dehydration
(6)poor circulation

If it continues then you may need to see your doctor for assessment to determine the cause.

I hope this helps
