What Causes Pain In The Chest?

Hello, I do have an appointment with a Cardiologist next month. I have been referred by my Primary care doctor. I keep having pain in my chest. not like a piercing pain, just a tightness that comes and goes. I told my doctor about this and he said i should see a cardiologist and possibly have a stress test. I am just trying to figure out exactly what to expect on my first visit.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern.

The tightness in your chest could be due to any cardiac problem. I too agree you should consult with cardiologist as soon as possible.

He/she will run physical examination, EKG, echo cardiogram. Based on the results, cardiologist will ask to run stress test.

Complete blood count, lipid profile, electrolytes and thyroid test are also to consider.

All the best.
