What Causes Pain In The Ears After Blowing The Nose?

While I was blowing my nose I heard a loud pop followed by a sharp pain in my right ear as if someone has a two edged needle sitting in my ear. The sound is distorted in the ear and aside from the constant pain there are sharper pains when I belch. Could I have an inner ear infection? If not what could be the cause and what will alleviate the pain for me to get some rest until I see my doctor in the morning?
