What Causes Pain In The Elbow?

i play baseball, and i took some batting practice yesterday, my elbow didn't hurt until after the 16th hit. now when i extend my arm my elbow has a pain in the bone.. i don't experience the pain when i fold my arm 45 degrees. i haven't hit a baseball since last year..could that be the reason, or what?
