What Causes Pain In The Eyes While Suffering From Fever?

My 15 yr old daughter has had the flu for 3 days. Very high temp. The first day it was 105.2. Brought down with Advil only to about 102 so doubled up finally with Tylenol. Got it down to 100.8. She is afibrile today but complaining that her eyes still hurt. I understood why they hurt when she had such a high fever but now on the 3rd day without a fever why are they still painful?
