What Causes Pain In The Foot?

Was told that I blew a vein in my foot but that it would heal in a week but its been a week and actually at a week it has started to give me more pain. I can't put pressure on it and when I go to stand it throb...could they have missed a fracture in the xray or is this the way it heals?
