What Causes Pain In The Groin Area Radiating To The Thigh?

when i lay down is the usual time i get pain that starts in the goin section of my thigh. it then radiades across my thigh, in the knee, and the outer calve. sometimes when sitting this occurs but always when i lay in bed. no matter which way i lay. i have to wait at leat three to five minutes for it to pass. i cannot put any weight on my leg during an episode. the pain is excrutiating. what could it be and what tupe of doctor should i see?

surgeon should locally examineit.itcan be inguinal hernia or pivd lumbosacral spine. a surgeon is recomanded for consultation.
