c/o deep hip pain that has been several months in duration. Little pain in AM but after 6-8 hours starts, mostly in right hip. Is sudden, sharp to a score of 7-8. Relieved with sitting, doing yoga postures, especially pigeon and squats, mostly resting. Hip x-ray in December negative, PT for 4 weeks very helpful, decreasing yoga classes to only 3 a week also helped. Naprosyn 24/7 during Dec-Jan but have tapered off since mid-Feb. See Primary care MD end of month for routine annual. Yoga instructor mentions an I-T band in hip joints that can have spasms and cause pain. Sometimes the pain lasts 20-30 minutes and then eases off completely by itself. It is almost a daily afternoon or evening occurance. I only take the naprosyn PRN now because if at home I can do yoga exercises that seem to work best. Also heating pad is used PRN often. I do not know what an I-T band muscle is, but the pain starts in the hip, usually the right, and over 10 mins can progress down the lateral side of the leg to the top of the right foot. I avoid walking then as I fear tripping over my right foot. I do not know what muscle spasms are either. Age 72 years, female, 5 3 (used to be 5 5 but have osteoporosis) weight 105 lbs.
