What Causes Pain In The Iliofemoral Tendon Area?

I have pain in ilofermoral tendon area when walking. it is a sharp percise fast stab of pain. I overcompensate for this pain by putting more pressure on other leg. In turn my back hurts & my posture is not straight anymore. Can you advise on how to easy pain when walking?
