What Causes Pain In The Inner Ear?

Back in May I started having a pain in my inner ear that would shoot down my neck. It would only last seconds. Then came some ringing in the ear that would cause sounds to fade for some seconds. Now a few weeks ago I noticed on the same ear a small hard bump behind my ear. The bump has gotten larger and it hurts to touch and when I turn my head. I have been hearing a thumping sound in my ear as well. I am very concerned. Lisa Diaz

Hi..

It looks like ear related problem and thumping can be due to Tinnitus problem.

The lump behind the ear can be due to swollen lymph nodes that can be secondary to infection..

So my suggestion is to consult an ENT Specialist and get evaluated and an ear examination should be done..

A course of antibiotics can be advised along with painkillers and antibiotic ear drops can be advised..

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
