What Causes Pain In The Jaw Line?

I initially felt pains along my jaw, and i felt lump along my neck line and thought that was lymph node inflamation. Then the next day, i saw small round white "zits" on my gum. I would like to know if this calls for a trip to the hospitalor dentist or if it is some sort of a viral infection
