Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Joints And Muscles While On Letrozole?
I have been taking letrozole 2.5 MG for 2 years. Lately, I have been experiencing joint and muscle pain in my lets and feet. I get so sore it is hard to walk. I am 66 years old, but very active. I work in the lunch room at a local high school and am on my feet for 5 hours a day....lots of lifting is part of the job, and lately the pain is almost unbearable. I also walk daily, 30 to 40 minutes every evening and that is getting harder to do as well. Can I just be starting side effects from the letrozole after 2 years, and if so, is there something that can be done?
You have been taking Letrozole since a long time, you are presently experiencing its side effects (pain in the muscles, bones & joints, drowsiness, fatigue, etc. Report to the treating doctor so that the medication can be stopped & substituted with a medication that suits you better.
For relieve you can take Acetaminophen, apply pain relieving ointments or sprays (Volini). Keep yourself well hydrated to maintain the electrolyte (sodium, potassium) content of your body. Take vitamin supplements.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K.
