What Causes Pain In The Joints And Rib Cage After Iron Infusion?

I had an iron infusion called Injectafer 2 times in March and since then I have been having joint and muscle pain in rib cage, my lower back, bilateral hips, knees, the soles of my feet, wrists, and fingers. I am fatigued but my ANA is normal, my ESR is elevated, my phosphorus was 1.2 but now it is 4.0. I have seen my oncologist, internal medicine, and nephrologist. No one knows why I am in so much pain.

Hi,

Pain can happen after iron injection especially intramuscular injection. Generally, it will settle by itself in couple of days.

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Tramadol for pain relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
