Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just got my MRI results back today. I d taken a spill down a couple of stairs on to my news. The said no tears or fractures but advanced arthritis. One other time I was taking Zocor an couldn t move my arms without lots of pain. Do you think cholesterol medication taken over a few years can cause this pain in my knees?
Simvastatin may not cause arthritis, it may cause myositis 0.1% and muscle spasm. How old are you? Osteoarthritis may occur along with age. In obese patients with osteoporosis or heavy weights lifters or joggers or runners, it may occur at an early age.
Weight reduction and Chondroitin Sulfate supplement may be useful.
If symptoms don't improve, please consult your orthopedician, he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu,
