What Causes Pain In The Left Arm And Back After A Shin Injury?

Yesterday my husband fell going up some flagstone steps and tore the skin on his left shin. Because of the amount of bleeding involved, he required a trip to the ER where they cleaned and bandaged the wound and sent him home. Today he is experiencing some pain under the left armpit area toward the back and under the left pec. Does he have to be concerned about internal bleeding because of the blood thinner he is taking?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

He can get some other injury along with shin injury while the same fall. Please take him to your family doctor for needful physical examination, followed by specific medication / investigations & referral to expert physician if necessary. Till then let him take rest. No fomentation or massage, can apply ice pack if swelling is seen. A pill of Ibuprofen over the counter would decrease the sufferings for time being.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
