What Causes Pain In The Left Armpit?

I have had a soreness and periodic squeezing pain under my left arm pit for the last week. Movement of arm above my head hasn t increased the pain, but playing the trumpet has bothered some. I have given up doing push-ups since it started and I have been taking 10mg Lipitor for 5+ years (LDL---190, HDL--50, this spring), 1000 mg fish oil per day, 600 mg Niacin per day for about as long. Is this sign of lymph node inflammation, heart attack or other? I have asthma and a family history of heart disease and diabetes.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic for your health concern

Pain you are describing can be due to inflamed lymph node, infection like hydradenitis, and most importantly coronary artery disease. EKG should be taken as soon as possible to rule out coronary artery disease, given your lipid profile.
Please follow up with the urgent care to undergo EKG testing. If available, taken 2 tablets of aspirin at home.

Hope this answers your questions
