What Causes Pain In The Left Calf, Thigh And Knee?

Good morning, I ve been having pain in my left thigh, calf, knee area. When I stand up to walk, there is some pain and by the third step the pain stops most of the time. When I m lying down there is a throbbing pain sometimes. My husband rubs the area and he said he feels pea size lumps in which I feel a little pain when he touches them.

Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that your symptoms could be related to different possible causes:

- a nerve compression (a pinched nerve)
- chronic vein insufficiency
- an infection (considering the lumps under the skin which could by lymph nodes).

For this reason, I recommend consulting with your physician for a careful physical exam and some tests:

- a Doppler ultrasound of the leg vessels
- a nerve conduction study
- some blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation).

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.

Hope to have been helpful!

Wishing all the best,

Dr. Iliri
