Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My left calf is hurting, severe at times. Pain has been about 20 hours. Had a Doppler study on Tuesday morning about5 hours after pain started. Clots ruled out. Had to getup after being asleep 4 hours. When I stood up the pain was so severe I thought I d collapse. I have RA. Is this relative to the RAor what do I do next
RA can cause joint and muscle pain so it is possible that it is linked to the pain that you are experiencing.
The pain can also be due to muscle spasm. This does not necessarily involve severe trauma but any sudden or unexpected movement can cause spasm to occur.
The combination of a muscle spasm and a pain killer would be helpful to relieve your pain. The muscle spasm may need to be prescribed. Examples are soma, flexiril, valium.
I hope this helps
