What Causes Pain In The Left Knee And Shin?

In the past three weeks, I suddenly developed left knee and shin pain on and off. I also had restless legs for a few nights and that got better with magnesium and calcium supplements. While climbing stairs a week ago, my knee got sprained because it felt weak and it has been painful ever since. The shin is also painful. I am wearing a brace and get a little relief with Aleve. I have also in the same amount of time developed upper abdomen cramping without any other digestive issues. I am not taking pain relief regularly.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi i do care for your concern.
Low calcium levels will cause bone pain as stress is added upon it.
You have not mentioned your age, and medications that you are taking.
It is advisable to consult your physician and get blood levels of calcium and vitamin D levels done.
Getting a x-ray of leg will help to diagnose osteoporosis and if found medications such as bisphosphanates would help a lot.
Regarding cramping altered blood mineral levels i.e calcium may also cause cramping.
hope your condition resolves soon.
Hope i have answered your question, if you have more feel free to ask.
Thank you.
I find this answer helpful
