What Causes Pain In The Left Leg From The Toes To The Thigh?

I have leg pain in my left leg from the pinky toe over to the middle toe, then up the outside of my leg. Sometimes it goes up 1/2 way or more into my thigh. I have issues with my left side from head to toe. Could this be the start of a stroke? YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
You need to see a doctor for an exam. Strokes usually show up with weakness not pain so the pain is likely from some other cause, not an impending stroke. The leg pain you describe sounds like it may be coming from one of the nerves from your spine that goes down your leg. This can happen from disc disease or another problem in the spinal cord. You need to see a doctor for an exam and further evaluation.
