Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have had pain in my upper left shoulder blade for a week now, it came one morning when I woke up for work and only goes away a little when I lay down or when I sleep. It increases when I turn my head to the left and I can feel some pain in my left upper chest as well. I work in construction so phisically intense work and I also smoke. I m not sure if this is muscle related or something more serious? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Possibility of musculoskeletal pain is more but since you are active smoker, we should definitely rule out heart diseases for your left sided pain. So get done ecg, 2d echo and stress test. If all these are normal then no need to worry for heart diseases. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise. Avoid movements causing pain. Apply warm water pad on affected areas. Take simple painkiller like paracetamol or ibuprofen. You will mostly improve with all these. And quit smoking as soon as possible. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
