Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I am sorry for the pain you are feeling on your side. Implant removal (hardware removal) is the most common surgical procedure run worldwide.
Unfortunately, sometimes it is associated with pain. There are various pain killers that are prescribed to ease the pain including ketorolac, etodolac and combination or Paracetamol+Codeine or Ibuprofene+Codeine. If still no improvement, marijuana or even morphine can be used however under strict doctor's supervision. It's true there is a risk for DVT if using opioids, that's why strict doctor's supervision is highly recommended and regular follow ups.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini
